The Sustainable Closet – Clothing for a Greener Tomorrow

One phrase that seems to be tossed about alot nowadays, when talking about “green” or eco-friendly apparel is sustainable clothing.  It seems likea rather non-descriptive word, so i decided to do a little research in order to get to the root meaning of it.  As it turns out, though, there are just about as many definitions as their are people you ask!  For instance, some consider anything made from an easily replaced fiber, such as soy or hemp or bamboo, in particular, because they grow very fast.  I thinnk this is probably the best definition because the supply can easily be sustained as these plants can be grown faster than they can be harvested.

Then there are others who consider the recycling of used clothing into “new” clothing to be a sustainable practice.  Then finally, there are those who consider anything raised, harvested and produced organically or in an ecologically-friendly manner to be sustainable with regards to the Earth itslef.  In any case, it’s all good.
