You Don’t Have to Decant Pinot Noir to Appreciate It

If you’re worried that you may not get the most out of your bottle of Pinot Noir by not decanting it, you should calm down because you don’t have to. Unlike other red wine varieties, the grape doesn’t leave any sediment even if the wine is aged for up to twenty years. You’ll have to let it breathe though, especially if the vintage is fairly recent. You can aerate it on the glass or use the decanter for the purpose, but you’ll have trouble pouring the decanted wine back into the bottle in case the company you expect doesn’t arrive, and especially if you can’t pull the cork out from inside the bottle.
