When i was training my cat, Bruce, a wiley siamese, I used a technique called “time out” or “sin bin” when he scratched excessively. I didn’t use it often , in fact only twice in total, but it really did the trick. This involved separating Bruce when he had been difficult and putting him in the laundry without food or bedding for a few minutes. After he was let out he was neither rewarded or punished but ignored. Bruce is an attention seeker, and this was the worst punishment for him as it simply denied him the pleasure of being with people.

Supermarkets in my home town have recently started advertising more and more about the food they cook and offer to their customers. Baked chicken is one of them and the thing that surprised me the most is that their price is not so different compared to an undone chicken. It really makes me think, is it worth it to spend 40-60 minutes on a baked chicken at home when I can just buy a finished one that tastes pretty much the same.
